Behind the Lens

The Photographer:

My name is Walton and I'm an avid photographer. I have been shooting for nearly thirty years. I started my adventure and love for photography in high school and never looked back. I couldn't afford a new camera so I bought an old used 35mm Canon AE-1 Program from local pawn shop. Since then, I have transitioned through many formats and variations throughout the years. Today, I carry primarily Nikon equipment. My previous experience included mainly travel and photojournalism. Recent years I've extended into portraits, lending my skills into capturing memorable Special Occasions and personalized High School Senior Photos.

My Style:

I press the shutter when I know I've nailed the shot; not the camera's frames-per-second hoping I got it. I am focused 100% on telling a story and selling the experience.  In short, I capture emotions; not images or prints. For all the interested photogs out there, I am a dedicated Nikon user. All others, my equipment allows for studio or on location shoots in nearly any environment.

Vision:

I thrive on the creative process and openly welcome alternative concepts and themed shoots. From the rising afternoon tides in Hawaii during a beach shoot to scaling the walls of Spains narrow passages during Running of the Bulls–I dedicate my time and efforts in doing whatever it takes to get exactly what is envisioned.

I believe that the creative process involves not only interacting with my subjects but involving them in the experience, resulting in highly detailed black & white or vibrant color images with an artstic edge. If you have questions or are interested in working with me, click the "Contact" tab and shoot me an email. Or, just drop a note and tell me what's on your mind.  I'd love to hear from you!

Experience and Collaboration:

It's always fun and exciting working with new people. If your just getting into modeling or have extensive experience and looking to expand your portfolio, I am open to TFP/TF* shoot on a case by case basis as long as its beneficial to both parties. I'm extremely open-minded, so don't hesitate to contact me with any of your ideas... the more outlandish and obscure, the better.

If your interested in shooting with me, I'm fun, patient, flexible, super easy to work with, safe, and above all, professional. I only ask that I am extended the same courtesy. If we agree on a shoot, feel free to bring a friend (or two) if it makes you comfortable, as long as they do not take away from the creative process.  (Extra bonus if they contribute!)

Creativity:

I limit digital manipulation in my photography work. Growing up working with 35mm and 220 format "wet" film have made my shooting style a "less is more" concept.  I take my time to consider lighting and composure when framing each photo before I open an shutter. This allows allows me more time behind the lens and less time behind a computer monitor- resulting in a quicker turn around time on processing images.  That said, I am well versed in PS Creative Suite and other workflow programs.

Stylists & MUAs:
I embrace collaboration and credit fully to those efforts. I appreciate and openly value specialists who know their role and contribute fully in the creative process. I openly seek out Hair Stylists, Make-up artists (MUAs), and Digital Artists for collaborative projects as well as other professionals (grip, lighting, etc) for shoots requiring more planning. Hair and MUA's are encouraged to contact me as I am always looking to expand my resources.

Blog:
Take a look around my portfolio, take your time. If you see something you like, let me know.  I love to hear from others out there.  I don't blog often, but I do when I have a significant update on upcoming photo opportunity or class. I travel regularly so feel free to check back often.

Training:

Occasionally, people ask, "How did you do that?" Either in photoshop or photography, I can arrange personalized and group sharing sessions.  I also sponsor workshops with "Meetup" groups and individuals looking learn or brush up on their skills. If this interest you, again, feel free to contact me for additional information. Click here or the "contact" tab above and simply send me a message.

Reservations:

I am always looking for new opportunities and fresh ideas to collaborate with.  To contact me, simply send me a message.  If you have an idea for a themed shoot, I'd like to hear from you... perhaps we can share some TF*/TFP time.
